Australian forward Sam Kerr and U.S. international midfielder Kristie Mewis are expecting their first child together, with Mewis announcing her pregnancy in a heartfelt Instagram post.
The couple, who got engaged last year and have been together since 2021, shared a collage of black-and-white photos, including an ultrasound image and a glimpse of Mewis’ baby bump. The post caption read: “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!”
Kerr, a prolific scorer for Chelsea and Australia, has been sidelined throughout 2024 due to an ACL injury sustained in January during preseason training. Despite her absence from the pitch, she signed a contract extension with Chelsea in June, committing to the club until 2026. Kerr’s remarkable career includes 99 goals in 128 matches for Chelsea and a record 69 international goals for Australia.
Meanwhile, Mewis joined West Ham United in January 2024 after winning the NWSL Championship with NY/NJ Gotham FC. However, injuries and illnesses limited her to only three appearances last season. The 33-year-old played briefly in West Ham’s opener against Manchester United but has been absent from matches since, fueling speculation about her future before her pregnancy was revealed.
Fans worldwide have congratulated the soccer stars on their exciting news, as the pair prepare for the arrival of their baby in 2025.
