Just days after his release from Kuje prison, where he was detained for undisclosed reasons, Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has alleged that his life was nearly taken in an assassination attempt.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Darlington revealed that the incident occurred during the early hours of the day while he was returning from a club in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, the rapper showed the aftermath of the attack, including bullet holes on the rear of his car, which was severely damaged. He disclosed that unknown gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, leaving him shaken but unharmed.
Sharing his distress in the video, Darlington said, “Long face sent killers my way, and I haven’t even posted anything. Bro, was this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?”
He added, “I haven’t said anything, yet he’s sending killers. What’s he so afraid of? That means I’m right.”
The shocking allegation comes amid heightened public attention following his recent release from prison.
