Steve Bannon, former Trump advisor and influential right-wing podcaster, resumed broadcasting his War Room podcast shortly after being released from federal prison. Bannon served a four-month sentence in Danbury, Connecticut, after a contempt of Congress conviction for refusing to comply with a January 6th Committee subpoena in 2022. His conviction came after the House referred his noncompliance to the Justice Department, leading to a trial and sentencing.
Speaking to The New York Times and in his podcast, Bannon framed his prison stint as a transformative experience. “The four months in federal prison didn’t break me; it empowered me,” he said. Bannon also described himself as a “political prisoner,” blaming former Speaker Nancy Pelosi for his prosecution, asserting that his punishment was politically motivated.
In his podcast episode, Bannon cautioned listeners about potential Democratic tactics during the November 5 election, calling for a decisive victory that would prevent “stealing” of the results. He referenced past claims of election fraud, warning listeners of prolonged legal disputes following Election Day. “Every day after the evening of November 5th is going to be Stalingrad,” he remarked, suggesting Democrats might attempt to delegitimize Trump’s potential victory.
As Bannon returns to his media platform, he remains a key figure rallying right-wing voters with assertions of widespread election manipulation and calls to “crush” Democrats at the polls.
