The Sultanate Council of Sokoto has debunked rumors circulating about the health of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar. Speaking to Daily Trust, Dr. Muhammadu Jabbi Kilgori, a senior counselor in the council, described the news as “fake,” confirming that the Sultan is “hale and hearty” and had recently traveled from Kaduna to Abuja for an official engagement.
Kilgori condemned the spread of the false information, calling it the work of “unscrupulous elements” and urged the public to disregard the rumor.
Additionally, the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) released a statement affirming the Sultan’s well-being and active role as a spiritual leader. MPAC emphasized the need for verifying news sources and warned that rumors like this are meant to mislead and distract.
The Sokoto State Government also recently dispelled separate rumors suggesting an attempt to dethrone the Sultan, assuring that the traditional rulership laws in the state remain unchanged.
