Super Eagles Set to Begin AFCON Qualifiers Camp in Uyo on September 1 Amidst Coaching Uncertainty
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to begin their training camp in Uyo on September 1 ahead of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda. According to a team official, the backroom staff will arrive on the same date, and most players are expected to join promptly. The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, will face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on September 7 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. They will then travel to Rwanda for their second AFCON qualifier three days later.
Currently, the team is without a head coach following Finidi George’s departure in June. The Nigeria Football Federation is still deciding between Janne Andersson, the former Sweden coach, and Hervé Renard, who has extensive experience in African football, as potential replacements.
