Gunmen launched a deadly attack in Sha village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Monday night, killing three people and injuring six others.
The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., has left the community in mourning. Victims with injuries are currently receiving medical treatment in Bokkos.
Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, Chairman of the Bokkos Local Government Council, confirmed the tragic event and expressed his deep sorrow.
“This is a season meant for jubilation and joy across our land, yet some individuals, driven by malice, have chosen to inflict harm on lives and property. This act is both disheartening and unacceptable,” Amalau stated.
He called on security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to fostering peace and unity in the area.
Amalau also urged residents to come together to safeguard their shared heritage, assuring them that the local government is working closely with security agencies to prevent such incidents in the future.
