President Bola Tinubu on Thursday extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on his 50th birthday. Tinubu joined the people of Ile-Ife and the global Yoruba community in celebrating the revered monarch’s life and leadership.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded the Ooni for his exemplary leadership since ascending the throne at the age of 41, highlighting his crucial role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
The statement read, “President Tinubu commends Oba Ogunwusi’s wisdom, sense of duty, and knowledge as both the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife and the spiritual leader of the Yoruba people. He also acknowledges the Ooni’s contributions as Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, where he promotes unity, religious tolerance, and peace.”
Tinubu praised the monarch’s advocacy for youth and women’s empowerment through education and entrepreneurship, as well as his philanthropic efforts to uplift the less privileged.
The President concluded his tribute by offering prayers for the continued success and prosperity of Oba Ogunwusi’s reign, expressing optimism that his leadership will bring further progress to the people of Ife and Nigeria at large.
