President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that his “Renewed Hope” agenda, though faced with challenges, will soon bring substantial benefits to all Nigerians. Speaking at the funeral service of former Oyo State Secretary, Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleosho, held at Ajegunle Baptist Church in Saki, Oyo State, on Saturday, the President emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in fostering national unity and growth.

Represented by Zaccheus Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Tinubu underscored his commitment to connecting the nation through key infrastructure projects. He specifically highlighted the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway as a major initiative aimed at improving transportation and boosting economic development across regions.

“This project is just the beginning. We are dedicated to creating a framework that will connect all parts of Nigeria,” Tinubu said. “Our goal is to ensure that no region is left behind as we work towards a more integrated and prosperous nation.”

He assured that while the journey may be difficult, the benefits of this vision will soon be evident throughout Nigeria. “My aim is to unify the country through infrastructure that will ultimately yield dividends for all Nigerians. Though this vision will take time, I guarantee that the results will soon be clear across the nation.”

Reflecting on Chief Koleosho’s legacy, President Tinubu praised his wisdom and humility, noting that Koleosho’s contributions had influenced his approach to infrastructure planning. “Chief Koleosho was a man of vision and integrity, and his dedication to public service has left a lasting impression on me,” Tinubu remarked. “His influence will continue to guide my governance.”

Tinubu pledged to honour Koleosho’s memory through meaningful initiatives that embody his legacy of service, adding, “We will ensure that his spirit of dedication and community service inspires future generations.”

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also delivered a tribute, urging political leaders to adopt the development-focused approach practiced by Chief Koleosho. “We must embrace the politics of development, as demonstrated by the late Chief Koleosho,” Makinde said. He called for unity among political leaders, emphasizing that cooperation would lead to better outcomes for the people.

The governor also announced plans to rename Oke-Ogun Polytechnic in honour of Koleosho, highlighting his commitment to education and empowerment. Additionally, Makinde revealed plans to name a township road after the late leader as a testament to his contributions to the community.

Governor Makinde outlined several infrastructure initiatives, including the rehabilitation of the Saki-Ogboro-Igboho road and the refurbishment of technical colleges in Ibadan and Saki. He also pledged to appoint permanent secretaries from the Oke-Ogun zone, ensuring representation and growth in the region.

In his sermon titled “The Joy of Death,” Reverend Israel Akanji, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, encouraged attendees to focus on spiritual growth and leaving a legacy of service. “We must strive to live a life that uplifts others and builds a legacy of love and service,” Akanji said. He emphasized the importance of community, urging those present to continue Chief Koleosho’s legacy by committing to the values he cherished.
