Tinubu’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Proceeds on Indefinite Leave
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has taken an indefinite leave of absence from his position. Ngelale announced that his decision to step down was prompted by pressing health issues involving his immediate family. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, he explained that the ongoing medical concerns required his full attention.
Ngelale submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, informing him of his need for indefinite leave. His statement expressed regret about stepping away from his roles, including his duties as the spokesperson for the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
In his words, “This agonizing decision was made after extensive consultations with my family over several days, as a vexing medical situation worsened at home.”
Ngelale added that he looks forward to returning to his national duties once his family’s health matters are resolved and asked for privacy during this period.
This move comes amid a critical time for the administration, and the absence of Ngelale will create a noticeable gap in the President’s media team.
Summary of Ngelale’s Roles:
- Special Adviser on Media & Publicity: Serving as the President’s spokesperson.
- Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action: Handling environmental initiatives.
- Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen: Leading a key national project.
Ngelale’s departure has yet to lead to the announcement of an interim replacement for his roles.
