Just days after deadly bomb explosions claimed lives and injured several commuters in Zamfara State, two separate explosive devices have detonated in the Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area.
The latest incidents occurred on the roads between Dansadau and Malamawa, as well as Malele Road, both within the Dansadau district. Reports indicate that the explosions happened simultaneously, but fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
According to Premium Times, Nuhu Babangida, a resident of the area, recounted how passengers in a Canter truck narrowly escaped disaster. The truck, loaded with grains and en route to the Dansadau weekly market on Friday, triggered one of the explosive devices.
This marks the third instance of explosives being planted along Dansadau roads in less than a week.
Earlier on Wednesday, an explosion at a bridge in Yar Tasha village claimed the lives of 12 people. Similarly, on Sunday, another suspected explosive device detonated under an 18-seater bus, killing the driver, who was the sole occupant.
The newly formed terrorist group, Lakurawa, has been identified as the orchestrator of these attacks, according to Zamfara State Police Commissioner Muhammad Shehu Dalijan. In an interview with the press, Dalijan confirmed the group’s involvement in the bombings that have rattled Dansadau district and other parts of Maru LGA.
These recent events highlight escalating security challenges in Zamfara State, prompting calls for urgent measures to address the rising threats.
