Update: Abducted Benue Medical Students Successfully Rescued
Twenty medical students and a house officer from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, who were abducted in Benue State approximately a week ago, have been freed, according to security sources.
The rescue operation was overseen by the office of the National Security Adviser, with participation from various security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel. The Benue State government also provided crucial support during the operation.
The students were abducted while traveling along the Otukpo-Enugu federal highway in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. They were en route to Enugu State to attend a conference when the incident occurred.
