(UPDATED) #EdoDecides2024: INEC Uploads 90.33% of Election Results on IREV
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 90.33% of the results from the Edo State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
So far, results from 4,082 out of the 4,519 polling units across the state have been transmitted to the platform.
Earlier today, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, assured the public in an interview on Arise Television that the electronic transmission of results would proceed efficiently, barring any network challenges.
“We have trained the operators for the BVAS. They are ready. The BVAS will be used to accredit voters and determine the total number of eligible voters at each polling unit.
Once accreditation is complete, the voting process will begin. After counting the votes, the results will be uploaded to our IReV,” Onuoha explained.
With over 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected, candidates from various political parties, including Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, are vying for the governorship seat.
The winner will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is set to leave office on November 11, following the completion of his two terms as governor.
