On Thursday, US Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted the Democratic nomination for the presidency, pledging to end the ongoing Gaza conflict and stand firmly against global tyranny, contrasting her stance with Republican candidate Donald Trump.”

In the ongoing battle between democracy and tyranny, I know my stance and where the United States should be,” Harris said, criticizing Trump’s perceived alignment with dictators.

During the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Harris, 59, outlined a “New Way Forward” for the nation as she and Trump, 78, approach the final 11 weeks of their campaign. Harris became the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

In her speech, Harris responded to criticism from Palestinian supporters by reaffirming her commitment to Israel’s security, the release of hostages, and ending the Gaza conflict. “Now is the time to finalize a hostage deal and a ceasefire agreement,” she stated.

Harris also made strong foreign policy statements, pledging to defend US interests against Iran, stand with Ukraine, and maintain strong ties with NATO allies.

If elected, Harris would make history as the first female US president. She described the upcoming election as a “rare opportunity” to move beyond past divisions and chart a new course for the nation.

Harris contrasted her vision with Trump’s, accusing him of neglecting the middle class and proposing harmful policies. She pledged to pass a middle-class tax cut, defend abortion rights, and ban “price gouging” by grocery retailers.

The convention saw protests from Palestinian supporters, who criticized the Democratic Party’s stance on the Gaza conflict. Despite this, Harris has raised $500 million in just one month and is either closing the gap or leading against Trump in key battleground states.
