Why I Ordered the Elimination of Aye Confraternity Leader in Ijoko — Eiye Member Confesses

Adejumo Wasiu, also known as Bombler, the top-ranking leader of the Eiye Confraternity in Ijoko, Ogun State, has explained why he ordered the killing of a rival cultist named Segun, also known as Adisa. Wasiu revealed that his decision was driven by a desire to avenge his father’s murder, which he claimed was orchestrated by the leader of the Black Axe cult and his followers.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Wasiu was recently arrested by the Anti-Cultism Squad, led by CSP Sunday Daramola, following a series of deadly clashes between rival cults in various parts of the state.

According to the police investigation, Wasiu had given the order to kill Adisa in May of this year. He later fled when he learned that he was facing murder charges after initially being on bail for a separate cultism-related case.

Sources revealed that Wasiu sought refuge in Igboora, Oyo State, where he was eventually located, arrested, and brought back to Eleweran for further questioning.

During an interview, Wasiu, aged 37, shared more about his background. Originally from Abeokuta, he made a living selling second-hand clothes and shoes. He relocated to Igboora after realizing he was wanted for Adisa’s murder.

Wasiu admitted to being a senior member of the Eiye Confraternity and confessed to fleeing when he learned that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. He claimed that in May, before skipping court appearances, his second-in-command had notified him that Adisa had been spotted in the Ijoko area. Wasiu, who was then in Igboora, directed his men to kill Adisa in retaliation for the murder of his father.

Wasiu explained that Adisa, alongside other members of the Aye cult, had brutally murdered his father during a festive period. This act of vengeance was, therefore, personal.

His Arrest

Wasiu went into hiding after learning that he was wanted for Adisa’s murder. He also severed communication with his surety, changing his SIM card to avoid being tracked. However, his capture came when an ex-girlfriend from Ifo, pretending to be pregnant, set him up by working with the police. They were able to apprehend him with the help of court officials and his surety.

Confession to Multiple Killings

Wasiu confessed that, in addition to Adisa, he had killed another Aye member named EnuEja about seven years earlier, during a conflict between two local monarchs. Wasiu, along with other members of his cult, had aligned with one of the monarchs. However, after a series of killings, including the death of a fellow cult member, Wasiu chose to go independent. He had previously been arrested in 2017, charged with cultism, and imprisoned before being released in January 2023.

How He Joined the Eiye Confraternity

Wasiu recounted his initiation into the Eiye Confraternity in 2003, facilitated by his elder brother Usman, who was also his godfather in the cult. He described the initiation process, which took place at a polytechnic in Kwara State, where he was beaten, given alcohol, and officially inducted into the group. As a high-ranking member, Wasiu revealed that he was responsible for holding the cult’s constitution, while his second-in-command acted as the armourer.
