Why I Turned Myself In to EFCC – Yahaya Bello
Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, has explained why he finally decided to respond to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after previously avoiding their invitations over allegations of financial misconduct.
Bello stated that his decision came after careful discussions with his family, legal team, and political associates. He emphasized that he respects the rule of law and had been seeking to ensure his rights were protected throughout the legal process.
According to the former governor, the case had been in court for some time, and his lawyers had represented him at every session. He felt it was now important to personally appear before the EFCC to clear his name, as he has nothing to hide or fear.
Bello also expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, praising its commitment to economic development and the fight against corruption. He highlighted his own efforts in Kogi State to combat corruption, noting that he was the first governor in the state to introduce measures aimed at preventing financial mismanagement.
