Social media activist and influencer, Martin Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sharply criticized Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
Omokri had shared a picture of his visit on social media, captioning it, “Spending Independence Day with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. May God bless Nigeria.” This post sparked an outcry, with many Nigerians accusing him of hypocrisy and labeling him a “sellout.”
Adding his voice to the backlash, VeryDarkMan posted an Instagram video, where he called out Omokri for associating with Tinubu, someone Omokri had previously criticized and insulted.
To support his remarks, VDM included an old video of Omokri leading a protest against Tinubu during his visit to Chatham House in the UK during the 2023 presidential campaign.
In the video, VDM said:
“Reno Omokri, why are you now associating with someone you once referred to as a ‘drug lord’? Are you trying to learn how to sell drugs? I’m just curious, though it’s none of my business!”
He further questioned Omokri’s integrity, claiming he had personally spoken to people Omokri approached for help in arranging the meeting with Tinubu. “You clearly lack integrity. I know the people you begged to meet Tinubu, and that’s likely why you were attacking Peter Obi,” he added.
VDM went on to criticize Omokri’s shift in political allegiance, noting that in 2023 Omokri had campaigned for Atiku Abubakar. “Politics may be a dirty game, but at least show some integrity,” he concluded.
